The Scandic Seilet is a hotel in the Norwegian city of Molde .

The striking, architecturally striking building is located at Gideonveien 2, directly on the Romsdalsfjord , into which it is partly built. Across the water from the hotel there is a view of the Romsdal Alps to the south . A little to the east of the hotel is the Aker Stadium .

The hotel was built in 2001/2002 and opened on September 11, 2002. It has a total of 224 hotel rooms and 12 conference rooms on 16 floors, with the largest conference room, the Bjørnsonsalen , also suitable as a concert hall, having a capacity for 430 people. There are two bars and a restaurant in the hotel.

The Scandic Seilet has a height of 82 meters to the top, making it the tallest building in Molde. The structure itself reaches a height of 54 meters. The design was in the style of futurism in the form of a sail and is modeled on the Burj al Arab . The architect was Kjell Kosberg , from the Molde-based architecture firm Kosbergs Arkitektkontor . The construction costs amounted to 40 million US dollars . Glass and granite in particular were used as building materials for the curtain wall . At first the hotel was called Rica Seilet .
