The Scania Germany GmbH is a subsidiary of Scania AB , with headquarters in Koblenz on the Rhine.

Scania AB is a listed manufacturer of commercial vehicles, buses, marine and industrial engines based in Södertälje, Sweden. Most of the production and development takes place in Sweden. The subsidiary Scania Germany only imports. The Scania Germany location in Koblenz, established in 1968, currently employs 206 people. In 2015 Scania Germany recorded 7,362 newly registered trucks and thus a market share of 12.4 percent. In 2015 Scania Deutschland GmbH's turnover was 804 million euros.

Products

A comprehensive range of products is offered. Scania Germany sells trucks over 16 tons for long-distance transport and distribution transport as well as special vehicles. Furthermore, city and intercity buses, coaches and industrial and marine engines are offered.

Trade fairs and events

Scania Germany is represented at the IAA Commercial Vehicles and Bauma in Munich, among others . Municipal and special vehicles are presented at the international trade fair for wastewater technology (IFAT), and coaches at the Busworld in Belgium . At Interschutz, which focuses on fire and disaster protection (every five years in Augsburg), rescue and special vehicles from Scania are exhibited. In addition to its presence at trade fairs, Scania Germany is represented at various events such as the Truck Grand Prix (annually at the Nürburgring ).

history

The entrepreneur Hans Adelfang from Neuwied started selling vehicles in Koblenz, Germany in 1960 . Just one year later, the IAA took part for the first time. Scania Vabis Deutschland GmbH, based in Koblenz, was founded in 1968. Saab Scania Deutschland GmbH was created in 1970 through the merger of the group with Saab. In 1977 Scania Vabis Deutschland GmbH was renamed Scania Deutschland GmbH. The PRGT series came on the market in 1980. The 3 Series was launched in 1987 and just two years later it was named “Truck of the Year”.

After the reunification of Germany, a Scania workshop and dealer network was built up in the former GDR in 1990 . Scania Finance Deutschland GmbH was founded in 1991 and in the same year the 100th anniversary of the Scania Group was celebrated in Södertälje. The thousandth diesel engine was sold in 1992. In 1993 the first Scania bus was launched in Germany. Production of the 4 series began in 1995, and just one year later it was named "Truck of the Year". Today's Scania Assistance began its service in 1996 and in the same year Scania shares were listed on the Stockholm and New York stock exchanges. The official homepage was put online for the millennium .

The first Scania driver competition "Young European Truck Driver 2003" was held. Three new series, P, R and T were introduced in 2004. The bus business was incorporated into Scania Deutschland GmbH in 2005. In the same year, the R series was named "Truck of the Year". The Scania Germany Austria business unit was established in 2006. A new R series was introduced in 2009, which in 2010 was named “Truck of the Year 2010”. From 2011 Scania Germany was again responsible for the industrial engines, marine engines and generator sets. New construction vehicles were also presented. The Scania Streamline was introduced in 2013. The new Scania S series received the Truck-of-the-Year 2017 Award in 2017. In 2018 Scania Germany celebrated its 50th anniversary and again received the Green Truck Award for the Scania R 500, as well as the German Telematics Prize for Scania's own "Tachograph and Fleet Services".
