The Schöneichtunnel is a 750 meter long road tunnel in Zurich and part of the A1L feeder road to the A1 motorway . The tunnel connects the city center with the motorway ring in the north. Below one side of the tunnel (north direction) is the Milchbuck – Schwamendingen tram tunnel , which was built as a preliminary construction work for the Zurich underground railway, which was ultimately never built. In 2001 a comprehensive structural repair and replacement of the electromechanical equipment was carried out.
