List of apple varieties |
The beautiful from Bath (also: "Beautiful from Bath") - original name English Beauty of Bath - is an old variety of the cultivated apple that is used as a table apple.
The beautiful one from Bath is a summer apple that ripens from mid to late July, is immediately ready for consumption and can be stored for about a month.
The fruits are medium-sized, flattened, spherical, have a smooth skin with an initially green-yellow, later orange-yellow base color and a red overlay - which can be spotty or streaky and have a sour taste with a slightly spicy aroma.
The variety was found as a chance seedling at the beginning of the second half of the 19th century near Bath in England / Great Britain .
The "Beautiful from Bath" was a popular variety on the market until the middle of the 20th century - due to its early maturity and its ability to be transported and (limited) stored. Today it is still grown in private gardens.
