Chess lady (game)

As chess checkers combinations of games of chess and checkers called. Both games, like their hybrids, are played on a chess board .

In 1883 the German Heinrich Richter published the first variant of chess lady:

Regulate:

The "pawns" always move and capture a square diagonally, that is, they move like checkers and capture like chess pawns.
The "queen" (corresponds to the king in chess) moves in the same way as the pawns, but also backwards
The "knight" moves like the bishop in chess.
The pieces hit as they move.
There is no pressure to hit .
If a pawn reaches the opposing back row, he turns into a knight.
The aim of the game is to checkmate the opposing queen.

The American mathematician Solomon W. Golomb developed Cheskers, another chess lady, in the 20th century:

The rules differ in several points:

The farmers (also called humans) move and hit like simple checkers
The kings move in the same way as the queens in the checkers game, i.e. also backwards
The bishop moves the same as in chess
The knight (also called cook) moves like the fairytale chess figure camel , e.g. B. from g1 to f4
Pawns or kings beat like in checkers by jumping over their victim.
The bishop and knight, on the other hand, beat like in chess.
If pawns or kings can capture, there is a compulsion to capture, but bishops or knights can also capture.
If, on the other hand, you can only take chess, this is voluntary.
When a pawn reaches the opponent's back row, he transforms into any of the pieces
The aim of the game is to destroy all opposing kings

Both variants have not found widespread use.
