The Shakhtar Stadium is a multifunctional arena in Karagandy , Kazakhstan . The home games of Shakhtar Karagandy are primarily played there.
history
The stadium was built in 1958 when the local team was accepted into class "B" (then 3rd division). The audience capacity was 10,000 seats. On August 12, 1958, the first international game against a Chinese team was played (1: 1). In the early 1960s, the stadium was rebuilt due to promotion to the 2nd division. Now the modernized stadium with a floodlight system offered 28,000 spectators.
The stadium was modernized again in 2001. The old wooden benches had to give way to the new plastic bucket seats. Since then, the stadium has held 19,000 seats. The venue meets international requirements. A natural grass is laid as a play area.
