The Schafbergbahn is a cable car (detachable monocable gondola - MGD) with gondolas for eight people each in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg and is located at the end of the municipality of Gargellen .

It connects a valley station at 1,438  m above sea level. A. in the Kälberboda parcel with the mountain station in the Schofberghüsli parcel at 2126  m above sea level. A. The facility is owned by Gargellner Bergbahnen GmbH & Co KG.

history

In 1951/1952 the first section of the cable car to the Schafberg, a 1-seater chairlift, was built and opened in 1952. The facility was expanded and rebuilt or extended several times.

To ski

The Gargellen ski area is part of the Montafon ski region and has over 30 kilometers of prepared and monitored slopes, with the majority of the slopes being classified as easy (blue) to medium (red). Part of the slope is artificially snowed. In addition to the Schafbergbahn, there are three chairlifts or chairlifts and four drag lifts in the ski area. Three chair lifts / lifts and two drag lifts are located directly with the Schafbergbahn in a ski area. Two drag lifts are practice lifts outside the narrower ski area (Vergalden practice lift and Madrisa practice lift).

hike

Diverse hiking opportunities in summer are available, e.g. B. on the Riedkopf, Gandasee , Rätschenfluh, Madrisa or Ritzenspitzen. In winter, snowshoeing and ski tours in and through the Valzifenz Valley .

Mountain carts

A descent with so-called mountain carts is possible from the mountain station of the Schafbergbahn. These three-wheeled vehicles are driven along a forest path down to the valley station.
