Cup stone from Drethem

The bowl stone from Drethem near Hitzacker in the Elbufer-Drawehn nature park in Lower Saxony was found in 1968 in a field 40 cm below the surface.

44 small bowls are attached to the upper half of the boulder , which is about two meters high and has been set up in a new location . They measure 3–7 cm in diameter and are up to 2.5 cm deep. Some are badly weathered.

The bowls are difficult to date. According to Peter Vilhelm Glob , they come into use at the end of the Stone Age , where they appear in the large burial boxes and, together with other elements, form the threshold to the Bronze Age .
