The Nuyakuk Lake is a narrow, 43 km long lake in Wood-Tikchik State Park in southwestern Alaska near Bristol Bay , about 100 kilometers north of Dillingham .
It lies at the foot of the eastern flank of the Wood River Mountains , a mountain range of the Kuskokwim Mountains . To the west it forks into the bays of Portage Arm and Mirror Bay . At its northernmost point, the lake is connected to Lake Chauekuktuli via the Northwest Passage and to the east via the Tikchik Narrows with Tikchik Lake . The outflow into the Nuyakuk River takes place via this lake .
The name of the indigenous people of Alaska for the lake is "Nu-ya-kok" and was first recorded on a map in 1910 by HC Fassett of the United States Bureau of Fisheries .
