The Tikchik Lake is a 16 km long lake in Wood-Tikchik State Park in southwestern Alaska near Bristol Bay , about 100 kilometers north of Dillingham .
It is east of Nuyakuk Lake , a lake on the eastern flank of the Wood River Mountains , to which it is connected by the Tikchik Narrows . The Tikchik River flows into the northern shore of the lake. At its eastern end, the Nuyakuk River , which flows into the Nushagak River after 58 km , is the only outflow . To the northeast is Tikchik Mountain , southwest of Agenuk Mountain .
The name of the native inhabitants of Alaska for the lake was first documented in 1891 by AB Schanz in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper as "Tikshik". The spellings "Tikchik" and "Tukshik" were also used.
Tikchik Lake is named after the Wood River for Wood-Tikchik State Park .
