Shawl collar

Shawl collar

The shawl collar is a round collar shape in which the upper collar and lapel are seamlessly connected. Two scarf-like stripes run from the rear center seam of the collar around the neckline of the clothing tops for women and men and cross each other at the front of the fastener, usually at chest height. The shape can be made wider, narrower, rolled, raised, turned up, etc. depending on the fashion.

The alternative to the shawl collar is the lapel collar with the visible heel between collar and lapel, the lapel corners. A square variant of the shawl collar is, for example, the spade collar.

In the case of the tuxedo , the shawl collar is covered with a silk mirror, in the case of a high-quality design in one piece.

Because of its elegant and decorative effect, the shape is often used for furs and fur trimmings .
