Shift bag

Shift lever with shift bag

A shift bag can be found in most motor vehicles with a manual transmission .

purpose

The shift bag is used to cover the mechanical connecting elements (" shift entrails") between shift knob or shift rod and shift bracket . This primarily prevents parts from falling into the shift rod mechanism from the passenger compartment and premature wear of the often exposed and permanently lubricated joints due to the ingress of dust or sand. As a side effect, the look of the vehicle interior is improved.

materials

Shift bags are made and sewn either from leather or synthetic leather . Often you will also find plastic bellows that function as a shift bag.
