Shammai (Bible)

Shammai ( Hebrew שַׁמַּי šammāj ) is the name of three people from the tribe of Judah mentioned in the Bible in Book 1 of the Chronicles .

Son of Onam

The second chapter of the first chronicle contains a list of the families of Judah . This list is a Shammai, the son of Onam, the son of Jerahmeel and Ataras called. Shammai's sons were again Nadab and Abishur. ( 1st Chronicle 2.28  EU ).

Son of Rekems

In the same list of the families of Judah there is another person named Shammai. This Shammai was the son of Rekem, one of the sons of Hebron . The son of this Shammai was Maon ( 1st Chronicles 2,44-45  EU )

Son of Jeter

The fourth chapter of the first chronicle contains another list of the families of Judah. A Shammai is mentioned as a descendant of an Ezra ( 1. Chronicles 4:17  EU ).
