Dora Emdin

Dora M. Emdin (born August 4, 1912 in St Albans (Hertfordshire), † April 9, 1945 in Gloucestershire ) was an English table tennis player . She took part in three world championships and won a total of three medals.

Dora Emdin was the daughter of the English table tennis official Ralph Emdin (* approx. 1876, † 1953) and sister of Doris Emdin , who was also a national player. At the 1934 World Cup , Dora Emdin reached the semi-finals in singles. In 1938 she won bronze in doubles with Phyllis Hodgkinson and silver in the team competition.

She won the open English championships five times , namely in 1933 in singles and mixed with Victor Barna , in 1934 in doubles with Phyllis Moser and in mixed with Victor Barna and in 1936 in doubles with Astrid Krebsbach . In 1934 she was sixth in the world rankings .

In 1940 (July, August or September) Dora Emdin married Jack Zillwood in Willesden . She died in 1945 after a brief illness.
