The list of tallest buildings each decade includes the top 10 tallest buildings in the world from 1900 to 2020 . In addition, the tallest building built in this decade is listed. Which is marked in bold or added to the top 10. This list only includes buildings , not other structures , such as town halls, sacred buildings , industrial, traffic, leisure or sports facilities. These are added to the list in italics . The demolition or destruction of a building is marked with a ⭛ in front of the year.

The height information corresponds to the structural height according to the CTBUH (Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Living Space) and was taken over by Emporis .
