The Comcast Building , also known under the former name GE Building (after General Electric ) and formerly RCA Building , is a skyscraper in New York City and part of the Rockefeller Center complex .
The building is number 30 at Rockefeller Plaza and is therefore known as "30 Rockefeller Plaza" or "30 Rock" for short. The comedy series 30 Rock , which takes place at this location, is named after this abbreviation .

After its completion in 1933, the GE Building with its height of 259 meters was for a long time, until 1969, the fifth tallest building in the world after the Empire State Building (381 meters, with antenna 443 meters), the Chrysler Building (319 meters) Meters) and the American International Building (290 meters) and the Bank of Manhattan Building (now 40 Wall Street) (283 meters). At the moment (as of 2017) it is the 18th tallest building in New York City .
The building houses the headquarters of the NBC broadcasting network . On July 1, 2015, the building was officially renamed the Comcast Building.
Trivia
The famous photo Lunch Atop a Skyscraper by Charles C. Ebbets , who documented the entire construction, was taken during the construction of what was then the GE Building .
The Top of the Rock observation deck is located on the roof of the Comcast Building . The NBC comedy series 30 Rock also plays in the building.
