The International Commerce Center ., Abbr ICC , ( Chinese  環球貿易廣場  /  环球贸易广场 , Pinyin Huanqiu Maoyi Guǎngchǎng , Jyutping Waan 4 kau 4 Mau 6 jik 6 Gwong 2 coeng 4 , Project Name: Union Phase 7 ) is 484 meters and 108 floors tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong . The building is part of Union Square , which is located in the Kowloon district of Hong Kong on the subway station of the same name ( MTR Kowloon Station ). The owner of the International Commerce Center and the other buildings in Union Square is Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd (SHKP). The Hong Kong subway company MTR Corporation Ltd. was part owner of this property until 2005. The tower was built according to the plans of the offices of Kohn Pedersen Fox and Wong Ouyang and was completed in 2010.

Planning and construction

The first plans for the construction project were published in 2000. Originally, a building complex called Union Phase 7 with a 574 meter high skyscraper was to be built in the Kowloon district . Two years later, however, these plans were discarded and the concept of the project revised. A 484 meter high skyscraper with a mixed use was to be built. A little later, construction work began on behalf of the project developer Sun Hung Kai Properties . The design contract was awarded to the American architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox and the Chinese firm Wong & Ouyang , who worked together to design the building. Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) and China State Construction Engineering (CSCEC) are sharing the construction work for the project as general contractors. The company Sanfield Building Contractors Limited ( 新輝城建工程有限公司  /  新辉城建工程有限公司 ), a wholly owned subsidiary of SHKP was responsible for the overall implementation of the construction process. The China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co. Ltd ( 中國建築第三工程局有限公司  /  中国建筑第三工程局有限公司 ), a wholly owned subsidiary of CSCEC, was responsible for the reinforced concrete work. In 2005, work on the underground floors of the building and the foundation was completed. Then the construction of the actual floors above the ground began. The International Commerce Center reached its final height in the summer of 2009, while the work on the facade and interior design continued until mid-2010.
