Hong Kong Cultural Center ( Chinese  香港 文化 中心 , Pinyin Xiānggǎng Wénhuà Zhōngxīn , Jyutping Hoeng 1 gong 2 Man 4 faa 3 Zung 1 sam 1 ) is a culture and concert hall in the Chinese Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong . The building opened on November 8, 1989 on the site of the former Kowloon Railway Station and was designed by Pau Shiu-hung .

Together with the Hong Kong Museum of Art , Hong Kong Space Museum and Salisbury Garden , the Cultural Center is part of the Hong Kong Cultural Center Complex in Tsim Sha Tsui ( Kowloon ).

Facilities

  • The concert hall is designed for music performances, has an oval shape and seats 2,019. The hall includes a 10 million Hong Kong dollars valuable Rieger -Orgel which counts with 93 registers and 8,000 pipes the largest in the world.
  • The large theater is the venue for operas (including canton operas ), dance, theater and ballet performances and can accommodate 1,734 spectators.
  • The studio theater can accommodate up to 496 spectators.
  • An exhibition gallery on the fourth floor with an area of ​​287 m².
