Hong Kong Museum of Art
The Hong Kong Museum of Art ( Chinese 香港 藝術館 ) is an art museum in the Chinese Hong Kong Special Administrative Region , which is operated by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department .
Together with the Hong Kong Cultural Center , Hong Kong Space Museum and Salisbury Garden , the museum is part of the Hong Kong Cultural Center Complex in Tsim Sha Tsui ( Kowloon ).
history
The museum originally opened as the City Museum and Art Gallery in Hong Kong City Hall , in Central , in 1962 . In July 1975, the museum was split into two separate museums, the Hong Kong Museum of History and the Hong Kong Museum of Art . The art museum was relocated from City Hall to its present location in Tsim Sha Tsui in 1991, near Salisbury Garden . Art Square at Salisbury Garden has open-air art exhibits; the changing exhibitions are proposed, installed and supervised by the Museum of Art.

The museum has over 16,000 exhibits, including works of art from the field of calligraphy , Chinese antiques , paintings of historical significance, and works by local artists. The museum also maintains themed exhibitions with internationally related exhibits.
The Flagstaff House , opened on January 27, 1984, serves as a branch of the Art Museum and houses a museum of tea things.
