The Lincoln Building (also One Grand Central Place ) is a skyscraper in New York City , NY , which was completed in 1930 after a two-year construction phase. It is located on 42nd Street East, opposite the Grand Central Terminal and next to the Citigroup Center . The Chrysler Building is not far away . The office building is 205 meters high and has 55 floors. The tower was built in the steel frame construction typical for its construction time, the facade consists of granite and limestone , in the upper area and the roof also of bricks .
The architect, James Edwin Ruthvin Carpenter , used various stylistic elements such as the neo-Gothic windows on the top floors. The building is named after the 16th President of the United States , Abraham Lincoln . There is a bronze model of the Lincoln Memorial by Daniel Chester French in the lobby . In 2009 it was renamed One Grand Central Place. This name has meanwhile also been attached to the entrance area with a large lettering.
