The Schanerlochbrücke is a traffic structure along the Ebniterstraße , an approximately ten kilometer long mountain road from Dornbirn to the mountain village of Ebnit . The bridge was built in 2005 with the architects Marte.Marte Architekten . The construction costs amounted to 300,000 euros.

architecture

The bridge is the result of expanding the arch shape with the help of modern technologies. The arch is reduced to a static minimum and at the same time twisted into itself. As a result, it adapts to the curvatures of the existing road. It looks particularly impressive from the banks of the Dornbirner Ache, which winds through the gorge .

Technical specifications

The bridge has an average span of 21 meters and is between five and six meters wide. The minimum carriageway width is 4.20 meters. The reinforced concrete arch is made very slim and is only approx. 35 cm thick at the thinnest point. The foundation was carried out on both sides of the existing rock, which would have good load-bearing capacity, and the top layer was carried out with high-performance concrete. The bridge corresponds to bridge class I and is therefore suitable for vehicles with a payload of up to 40 tons. Approx. 160 m³ of high-strength quality concrete and around 20 m³ of filler concrete were used in the construction. Approx. 25 tons of steel were used for reinforcement.
