Schar is the name given to a pre-profiled sheet metal strip ( band ) with two side upstands in the plumber . By repeatedly (common) folding ( folding a is) of two adjacent upstands force-locking connection of the sheets produced strip.

The most common embodiment is the double standing seam . In this case, the height of the side upstands of the shares is often 45 and 35 mm.

The width of the original sheet metal strip required for the upstand is called the seam loss . The share width is determined from this. A band with a width of 600 mm usually results in a group of 520 mm in width.

In addition to the metal roof covering ( double standing seam covering ), sheet metal shares are also used as wall cladding .
