The Scharnhorst was a fishing steamer of the Imperial Navy used as an outpost boat , which sank in the First World War .

The ship

The Scharnhorst was built as a fish steamer by the shipbuilding company Unterweser AG Schichau for the FA Pust shipping company and had the hull number 0120. The ship was delivered on November 12, 1915.

During the First World War, the ship was part of the Ems outpost flotilla.

On May 22, 1917, the Scharnhorst ran with nine men on a mine near Borkum Reef and sank.
