The Schauburg is a cinema in Dortmund and has existed since 1912 . It has a total seating capacity of 260 seats, divided into two halls.

On September 1, 1912, the Corso-Lichtspiele opened at Brückstraße 66. In 1913 they were given the new name Kammerlichtspiele , which was changed to the current name Schauburg in 1921 as part of a renovation and modernization .

The building was completely destroyed in an air raid in 1944, but was rebuilt at the end of the Second World War and officially reopened with the film The Woman with the Two Faces by Greta Garbo .

From 1976 to 1977, the small cinema was created through a conversion into double cinemas. Both cinemas were renovated in 1990 and equipped with more modern technology. Schauburg I and II were created.

A new ten-year lease was signed at the end of 2016. The small cinema is to be refurbished for 50,000 euros.

Others

The Schauburg has already served as a production facility for two stories for the webcomic Union der Helden, which was produced in Dortmund . The two specials for the Web- Sondermann Prize 2010 and 2011 were both produced in the large hall (Schauburg I).
