Bushel Bridge

The Scheffel Bridge is an approximately 20 meter long road bridge over the Radolfzeller Aach in the Baden-Württemberg town of Singen am Hohentwiel .

It was built during the inflation period in 1923 and, according to the inscription, cost 1,520,940,901,926,024 (one and a half quadrillion ) marks . It is called the most expensive bridge in the world .

The bridge is named after the writer Joseph Victor von Scheffel , whose novel " Ekkehard " is set on Singen's local mountain, Hohentwiel .

The federal highway 34 runs over the Scheffelbrücke in the course of the Schaffhauser Straße, making it one of the most important accesses to the inner city of Singen. The bridge has two lanes and a sidewalk and bike path on the left when looking out of town .

In 2004, a footbridge with another walkway and bike path in reinforced concrete was built directly to the north next to the Scheffel Bridge .
