The bushel mill

The Scheffelmühle is a former water mill on the Glems river in the district of Höfingen in Leonberg .

The name only came up in the 15th century when the Schöffel family ran the mill. At that time, there was a regulation that Höfingen customers had priority over foreigners. In addition, the miller had to pick up the grain not only in the village, but in an area of a mile without compensation and deliver the flour and bran to the house. Compared to the Eltingen mills, which were disadvantaged by the scarcity of water, the Schöffel miller benefited from the better water supply to his mill.

The mill has been owned by the Sailer family since 1904. The mill was in operation until 1967. Today there is a ceramic studio and a sculptor's studio in the mill building.
