Shear test

The shear test is used to investigate the loading capacity of a material against shearing .

For this purpose, a defined round rod is clamped in a shearing device and subjected to a constantly increasing shear force until it is sheared off. The shear force F m is measured and divided over the entire shear area S 0 . This gives the shear strength τ :
