The Ship Safety Ordinance contains national implementations of the internationally agreed SOLAS shipping regulations into German law . It deals with the safety standards of the ship , equipment and crew .

It was issued in 1998 by the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMVBW) (now the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI)).
