Schindler wagon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schindler Waggon AG company in Pratteln BL was founded in 1993 and deleted again in 2001. The Schindler Group was already producing railway vehicles at the Pratteln (SWP) plant when it bought Flug- und Fahrzeugwerke Altenrhein (FFA) in 1987 and renamed it Schindler Waggon Altenrhein AG (SWA) . These activities were combined in 1993 in Schindler Waggon AG (SWG). SWG was sold to ADtranz as early as 1996, which itself came to Bombardier Transportation in 2001 . A large part of Altenrhein was sold to Stadler Rail in 1997 and Pratteln was to be closed. Bombardier bought the plant back to manufacture more ICN and IC 2000 double-decker cars, but then had to shut it down for good in 2005 after there were no more major orders from Switzerland in prospect.

Others

In 1997, the Society of Engineers of the Swiss Federal Railways awarded the Golden Rail to Schindler Waggon AG, Altenrhein plant.
