Schlössli Ins

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schlössli Ins was 1953 to 2014 an anthroposophic school and home community in Zeeland ins in the canton of Bern . Today the term Schlössli Ins encompasses over 20 properties as well as several land areas in Ins that are managed by the Seiler Foundation .

history

In 1953 Robert and Ruth Seiler, also known under the names Ätti and Müeti, founded the Schlössli Ins school and home community. In 1972 they handed the Schlössli over to their sons Michel Seiler and Ueli Seiler . In the same year, Ueli Seiler took over the overall management until his resignation at the end of 2006. In 2003 the anthroposophical school and home community celebrated its 50th anniversary. At that time, the Schlössli Ins had around 70 boarding school students, 40 external students and around 100 employees. 11 years later, the school and home community was closed by the cantonal youth welfare office (KJA).

Special features of home school

The anthroposophically-led school and home community was known throughout Switzerland and in anthroposophical circles also across national borders. It offered children and young people a place with which other institutions could no longer cope. In addition, the Schlössli Ins offered young people professional training in the fields of trade, carpentry, agriculture and housekeeping.

Special features on the area

Most of the buildings are listed. Particularly noteworthy is the “Rosenhof” building on Kirchrain 27. It is an old patrician house from the 16th century with a semi-recessed vaulted cellar and a striking hexagonal stair tower. The Rosenhof was also the residence of Schlössli founder Ruth Seiler-Schwab , known as “Müeti” , for a long time . The Rosenhof is surrounded by 10,000 m² of public park, known as the “Rosenhof Park”. The Chartres labyrinth has been recreated to scale in Rosenhof Park . Another highlight is the “Lilienhof” building at Dorfstrasse 22. It was owned by the Bernese aristocratic families Wyttenbach and Tscharner .

Todays situation

After the controversial closure of the school and home community, the Seiler Foundation had to reorient itself and rent the properties elsewhere. According to the website of the Seiler Foundation, over 12 educational, social, cultural or agricultural projects are rented in the properties today (as of June 2017).
