Battle of the Margus
The battle on Margus was fought in July 285 between the armies of the Roman emperor Carinus and his challenger Diocletian in the river valley of the Margus (today Morava ) in Moesia (today Serbia ).
Diocletian's army was defeated by the numerically superior troops of Carinus. However, this was after the battle for unclear reasons, but probably at Diocletian's instigation, murdered by his own people, and Diocletian thus became the undisputed ruler of the empire.
