Federal Ministry for the Affairs of the Federal Defense Council

The Federal Ministry for Affairs of the Federal Defense Council was a German federal ministry that existed from 1964 to 1967. The only minister was Heinrich Krone , who had already performed similar tasks as Federal Minister for Special Tasks (since 1961) before his term in office .

tasks

The Federal Ministry was responsible for chairing the Federal Defense Council (now the Federal Security Council ), whose affairs it administered, and for coordinating the federal intelligence services : BND , MAD and BfV . Both tasks were performed before and after by the Federal Chancellery ; the MAD is supervised by the Federal Minister of Defense , the BfV by the Federal Minister of the Interior .

The Federal Ministry was established on July 13, 1964. On July 20, 1966, the ministry received a permanent state secretary ( Reinhold Mercker ). With the creation of the grand coalition , the ministry was dissolved on December 1, 1966. Krone left the cabinet and Mercker handled the ministry until the beginning of 1967 and then moved to the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forests .
