The Battle of Arbalo was a skirmish between Romans and Teutons in 11 BC. It is part of the Drusus campaigns (12 to 8 BC)

In the course of the border security of Augustus , Drusus , general and stepson of Augustus, got the order to pacify the area on the other side of the Rhine . In the spring of 11 BC He crossed the Rhine with his army and subjugated the Usipeters . He built a bridge over the Lippe and moved through the Sugambrer and Cheruscan region to the Weser.

On the way back to the Rhine, the army was not in a highly localized place called Arbalo in a shortage of Germans (probably Sugambri , possibly supported by Cherusci and parts of the chat ) into an ambush enticed.

Despite the surprise effect, the encircled Roman legionaries were able to prevail against the Germanic tribes who, according to Cassius Dio, operated undisciplinedly. After the battle, the Roman general built a fortified Roman camp , which is identified with the archaeologically researched Roman camp Oberaden .
