Keyword catalog
The subject catalog is a library catalog that lists the publications according to subject and thus allows selective thematic searches for literature. A catchphrase is understood to be a natural language expression that reproduces the content of the publication as briefly but precisely as possible. Complex content can be described by a keyword chain , a combination of several individual keywords (example: Uganda / child / soldier / experience report ). The sub-keywords are not only used for targeted research, but also allow catalog users to see whether the document found is relevant to them. While earlier keyword catalogs were kept as an independent card catalog , the search option for keywords is integrated in modern OPACs .
Keyword cataloging rules
The rules for subject headings cataloging (RSWK; up to the third edition: rules for subject headings catalog ) are today the set of rules for verbal subject indexing in academic universal libraries, in public libraries, with restrictions in special libraries in Germany, Austria, German-speaking Switzerland and in German-speaking libraries in South Tyrol . In addition, there is the index of the key words that are available for indexing, the key word norm file SWD. It was incorporated into the Common Authority File (GND) in 2012 .
