Tensile impact strength
The impact strength refers to the ability of a material , impact energy and impact energy to absorb. The tensile impact strength is calculated as the ratio of tensile impact work and test specimen cross section (unit of measurement kJ / m²).
determination
The tensile impact strength is determined using the tensile impact test. According to (DIN 53448) it is often carried out with a pendulum impact tester . A tensile specimen is clamped in such a way that it is stretched or torn off by the pendulum hammer . The impact energy (tensile impact strength) is determined. The pendulum hammer is slowed down by the sample and thus loses energy. The impact work can be calculated based on the deflection angle, the defined pendulum hammer weight and the pendulum length. This is displayed directly on the devices used, but must be corrected for the elastic centrifugal work of the cross yoke used.
The tensile impact test is mainly used for plastics .
