Silesian poetry school

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schlesische Dichterschule is a literary historical name for Silesian poets of the Baroque period . It comes from the literary historiography of the 19th century and does not correspond to any self-designation or an organized group of Silesian authors. The “First Silesian School” summarizes authors who are stylistic successors of Martin Opitz . As Second Silesian School are Daniel Casper von Lohenstein and Christian Hoffmann von Hoffmannswaldau and epigones like Hans Erasmus Aßmann , Gottfried Benjamin Hancke and Benjamin Neukirch referred. Andreas Gryphius stands outside of the school affiliations defined by literary historians.
