The Schlingerhaie (Centrophoridae) (Greek, kentron = thorn, pherein = carry) are a family of the dogfish-like (Squaliformes) to which two genera and 17 species belong. They live in all tropical and warm temperate oceans on the continental shelf and over the continental slopes and are only absent in the eastern Pacific.

They are small sharks that grow to be 80 to 160 centimeters long. They have a grooved spine in front of each of the two dorsal fins. One anal fin is missing. The tail fin stalk has no lateral keels. The teeth of the upper jaw are smaller than those of the lower jaw.

They live worldwide, mostly above the shelf of islands and continents in temperate, subtropical and tropical seas, but are absent in the eastern Pacific . The Centrophoridae are viviparous ( ovoviviparous ).
