Slitting

Slots is in the construction colloquial acronym for knocking out -hämmern, or milling of parts of masonry to the laying of one or more power lines , gas pipes or water pipes outside the viewing area ( flush -laying). DIN 1053-1: 1996-11 must be observed for the " execution of slots and openings in walls " .

The term is also used when the overburden over a tunnel is removed and the tunnel is opened.
