Schloßberg is a district of the Baden-Württemberg city of Bopfingen . The place is on the slope of the castle ruins Flochberg . It has 993 inhabitants (as of May 31, 2012).

history

In 1722 the Counts of Oettingen founded the Schloßberg settlement at the foot of the Burgberg. As early as 1689 and later again in 1794, the counts allowed homeless people to settle on the castle slope. The new citizens owned no land and earned their living as day laborers, homeworkers, peddlers, bricklayers or musicians. In 1806 Schloßberg fell to the Kingdom of Bavaria , and in 1810 it became part of Württemberg . Schloßberg was part of Bopfingen until 1820 and then, until 1850, it became part of the Flochberg community. After that it was an independent community. During the time of National Socialism there were numerous forced sterilizations in Schloßberg , which mainly affected members of the Yeniche . In the course of the territorial reform, Schloßberg became a district of Bopfingen on January 1, 1971.
