The Achau Castle is a moated castle in Achau Lower Austria. It is located in the center of Achau near the Mödlingbach .

In 1484 Matthias Corvinus's troops stormed the castle. The place and castle passed into the possession of the von Rappach and the Khienberger . Other owners followed and neglected the rule. The moated castle was originally built on a medieval foundation around 1650. The builder was Ulrich Grappler (Gröppler) von Trappenburg , the auxiliary bishop of Passau . In 1732 the castle came into the possession of the Barons von Moser . During the Second World War , the palace in the new 24th district of Mödling belonged to Greater Vienna . After being hit by a bomb, it burned down in 1945, shortly before the end of the war. In the following years it was decided to rebuild the moated castle, slightly modified.
