Brantice Castle

Castle Brantice ( Castle Bransdorf ) is located in Brantice in Czech Bruntál ( district Freudenthal ) on the left bank of the Oppa . It is a three-wing building surrounded by an English country park . The castle is not open to the public.

history

In 1449 a fortress is mentioned for the first time, which was abandoned after the purchase by the Hohenzollern . Today only the remains of the moat behind the castle are reminiscent of the fortress. In the second half of the 16th century, Chancellor of the Duchy of Jägerndorf Hieronymus Reinwald began building a renaissance castle . Construction was finished in 1604. In the 18th century, the castle was rebuilt in Baroque style, a wing and the park were added. The facades were renewed in the 19th century. In the 20th century it served as a warehouse for medicines.
