Freudenau Castle

Freudenau Castle (Slovenian Meinlov grad or Dvorec Freudenau v Črncih ) is located in the former German-speaking umbrella village , today Črnci in Abstaller Feld in Slovenia . In Slovenian the castle is now named after Julius Meinl , who owned the castle around 1900.

history

The first previous building of today's castle is most likely a castle from the 13th century. Gut Freudenau was separated from the Freudenau rulership over time. Around 1635 Ludwig Graf Schwarzenberg was the owner, then the Counts von Rhisel and went to von Rosenberg for Ludwig Josef von Ursini Rosenberg. The Freisburg estate also belonged to the estate.

The current baroque building, which still exists today after many modifications, was built at the beginning of the 17th century. Julius Meinl bought the property around 1900. He brought advanced methods to the farm and mechanized agriculture.

Building

The castle is a two-storey long rectangular building (each side is a building of three by five axes) with an inserted, far projecting three-axis and three-storey central projection , which is built as a gatehouse towards the estate side and is characterized by blue slate tiles. On the opposite garden front (street side) it protrudes only slightly from the building and has an attached gable . Both parts have a hip roof. The roofs are bordered by a simple frieze. On the street side, two hip dormers with ridge are built into the roof. On the street side, the square wall columns of the defense, which are crowned with a chalice, are still preserved. The building is on the main street of the village. The walls are dilapidated and overgrown. The castle stands on the front side of a manor that was formerly U-shaped by buildings, some of which are now very dilapidated.
