Grafenstein Castle in Carinthia (2006)

Grafenstein Castle is a castle in the Carinthian municipality of Grafenstein . It is still owned by the Orsini-Rosenberg family who built it .

The castle is located west of Grafenstein. It is a three-story, cubic building with twelve or eight axes and has a three-story arcaded courtyard. In the courtyard there is an inscription by the builder, Johann Andreas von Rosenberg, dated 1638 . Another panel is from Georg Nikolaus Rosenberg from 1660, who had the upper floor built. In 1770, under Vincent von Orsini-Rosenberg , the facades were structured with colossal pilasters, window roofs and triangular gables. Inside there are rococo stucco works from the period 1760 to 1770 and illusionistic wall paintings from around 1780.
