The Inzersdorf castle was in the municipality Inzersdorf im Kremstal in Kirchdorf an der Krems District of Upper Austria (main road 18).

history

Inzersdorf appears to be owned by the St. Florian Monastery in 1111 . In 1185, Chunrad von Inzersdorf is mentioned as the owner. Gottfried von Boxleiten became his successor. In 1378 a Friedrich der Pudminger is named as the owner. He sold the castle to the Schlierbach monastery in 1417 . From 1571 to 1577 Christoph Haydn was first the manager of Inzersdorf, in 1590 he was named as the owner. He was followed by Urban Fux house keeper between 1601 and 1608.

As can be seen in the engraving by Georg Matthäus Vischer from 1674, Inzersdorf Castle in the 17th century consisted of a four-storey main wing with watch towers at the four corners and a tower with an onion helmet that represented the entrance. The castle was surrounded by a wall with corner towers. Next to it were a Meierhof and other outbuildings (courthouse).

At the beginning of the 18th century, Inzersdorf came to Count Franz Siegmund Engl von Seisenburg .

In 1706, Christoph Albrecht Haydn von Dorff was still calling himself on Inzersdorf and Lindach. Also in 1713 a Christoph Adam Hayden von Dorff, Herr auf Lindach, Weyr and Inzersdorf appears in the documents of the Kremsmünster monastery. In 1736 this Christoph Adam Hayden von Dorff on Inzersdorf and Lindach is mentioned. It was not until 1750 that Christoph Franz Hayden von Dorf was named without the addition of Inzersdorf.

Inzersdorf Castle today

Today, according to local tradition, it can be assumed that the old municipal office of Inzersdorf was housed in a remnant of the castle. The ornate wrought iron window baskets on the first floor were unusual. The old municipal office was demolished in April 2020. With regard to the neighboring Gasthof Dorfstub'n, it is assumed that it used to be a castle wing and that the barrel vaults still present inside date from this time.
