Küppelstein Castle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Küppelstein Castle is a former restaurant in the Reinshagen district of Remscheid . It was about 600 meters north of the Küppelstein district, which today belongs to the Westhausen district. Only remnants of the original building have been preserved; today the children's home Der Waldhof stands on the site.

The castle was built before 1893 by the Kipper brewery as an excursion restaurant. On March 22, 1896, the people involved in the construction of the Müngsten Bridge celebrated after the final riveting at Küppelstein Castle.

After the building was badly damaged in World War II , it was demolished in the 1950s due to its dilapidation. The children's home, which has merged with the Evangelische Jugendhilfe Bergisch Land gGmbH since September 1, 2005, was built on the foundation walls.
