Krottenhof Castle (also Alt Khainach , not to be confused with Alt-Kainach Castle ) was a castle near the Alt-Kainach and Kleinkainach castles in Bärnbach , Voitsberg district , Styria .

The last form of the Krottenhof was built by Christoph von Stadl before 1550 in the form of a regular square with four protruding corner towers and an inner courtyard. On the input side of one was roof turret with clock tower attached, additional perimeter was secured in Torberreich with loopholes and otherwise broken with plank fences. A large park with outbuildings belonged to the castle.
history
The Krottenhof, a residence in Kleinkainach, east or north-east of today 's Alt-Kainach Castle , probably originated from a farm and, according to Robert Baravalle, was expanded into a noble residence by the Krottendorfer in the 14th century. This came in 1490 through Armenia (a daughter of Georg Krottendorfer) to Bernhard Stadler, who passed it on to his son Christoph. In 1550 the property was united with the rule of Kainach, and in the 17th century it was designated as the Stadlerische Sitz Khrottenhoff zu Alt Kainach . The rule of Kainach came to the Wagensperg via the Saurau as Saurauischer Krottenhof or Saurisches Schloss . In 1681 the castle was named ALT KHAINACH . In 1731 the castle still existed, but in 1790 it was demolished and the building material was used to build other buildings.
