La Malartrie Castle

The La Malartrie Castle is located at the western end of the village of La Roque-Gageac , but already on the territory of the municipality Vézac in the Dordogne department of the French Périgord , close to the river Dordogne .

The privately managed small castle is located between the village and a rock overhang on which the viewing balcony of the gardens of Marqueyssac is located. The building was erected in the period of historicism around 1900 in the style of the 15th century and fits the townscape. Stylistically, the design follows the return to the beauties and values of bygone times, which began in the 19th century and which, in the course of the Romantic period, encompassed almost all genres of art.
