history

Mildenau was first mentioned in 1270 when it was owned by the Buch monastery near Liegnitz . From the 14th century onwards, Mildenau appears as part of the Sorau rule . From 1457 it was owned by the Balzers von Unwürde, from 1509–1590 by the von Schönaich family and then until 1608 by the von Radel family. In 1608, the family of the Counts of Promnitz , owners of the Sorau registry, bought the manor. Count Stanislaus Christoph von Promnitz was named as one of the owners from this family.

Until 1684 Mildenau was owned by the von der Dahme and von Knobelsdorff families , from 1685 until the end of the 18th century owned by the von Dyhrn family , who rebuilt and enlarged the old castle. The last owner from this family on Mildenau was Marianne von Dyhrn, through whom the manor passed into the possession of her direct descendants from the Keck von Schwarzbach family around 1793. In 1827 the manor came into the hands of the von Mutzdorf family. The value of the entire manor with the castle and 40 individual ponds was estimated at around 30,000 Reichsthaler . Leberecht Theüner acquired it around 1841, and his son Moritz Theüner inherited it nine years later. In 1913 the von Wackerbarth family bought the estate, but sold it three years later to an entrepreneurial family from Sorau who were active in the textile industry. Around 1928 Mildenau became the home of the von Dyhrn family again. After 1945, Mildenau Castle became the property of the Polish state and has served as an educational institution for disabled children ever since .

architecture

Mildenau Castle was built around 1600 and, after many renovations, took the form of an eclectic castle in the 20th century . The castle has an asymmetrical shape and consists of a two-storey main body, which is placed on a high cellar and covered with a hipped roof with dormers. It has several towers with terraces on the flat roof, with the largest tower dominating the building.
