Neudorf Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Nowiźnie ) is a restored castle in Nowizna (Neudorf / Eule) in the Polish Voivodeship of Lower Silesia .

history

In the 16th century Neudorf belonged to the von Schellendorf family, who had their first castle built in 1565. In the 18th and 19th centuries the von Czettritz , Gellhorn and Stolberg-Wernigerode owned the castle. Under Wilhelm Graf von Perponcher-Sedlnitzky, new neo-Gothic farm buildings were built. Alexander Graf von Perponcher-Sedlnitzky continued the expansion at the beginning of the 20th century.

At the end of the Second World War, the castle was the relocation site for Wroclaw library holdings, which were destroyed when the castle was occupied by the Red Army. The looted castle was used for residential purposes and fell into disrepair. The castle, now in private ownership, has now been carefully restored.

Building

The 19th – 20th The castle, which was enlarged in the 19th century, has three tower extensions around the core building and a tower-like risalite . A flat-roofed extension was built on the side. Inside, vaulted rooms from the 16th century have been preserved.
