Czettritz (also Czetteras , Zettritz , Zedritz , Zedritz von Kinsberg ; Czech Četrycové / Cetrycové , also Četrys z Kariše and Četrys z Kinšperka ) is the name of an originally Silesian noble family whose members were awarded Bohemian and Prussian rankings. Another line was called "Czettritz von Neuhaus (ß)" after the Neuhaus castle and the Schatzlar family branch was called "Czettritz von Karisch" ( Četrycové z Karyše ).

history

The Lords of Czettritz were one of the most respected and oldest Silesian noble families. A Dietz Czettritz is proven as early as 1230. The family first appeared in documents in 1243 with Merboto de Czetteras in Freiburg in the Duchy of Silesia , whose brother Peczco / Betsche owned the neighboring Zeisburg . The uninterrupted line of tribe begins in 1368 with Hermann von Czettritz , Burgrave of Nimptsch . The Czettritz acquired numerous possessions in the Duchy of Schweidnitz , where they founded several villages in the Waldenburger Bergland in the 16th century . In their possession were inter alia Adelsbach , Dittmannsdorf , Fröhlichsdorf , Fürstenstein , Gaablau , Gottesberg , Hausdorf , Jannowitz , Konradswaldau with the Castle Conradswalde , Kreppelhof , the rule Kynau with the Kynsburg, Liebersdorf , Schwarzwaldau , Reussendorf , Seitendorf and the Zeisburg as well as the castle district Neuhaus with the city of Waldenburg and Oberwaldenburg . In the neighboring county of Glatz they were wealthy in the Oberwernersdorf rule . From 1558–1561 they also owned the Upper Silesian Gleiwitz .

In Moravia , the Czettritz von Kynsberg family branch owned, among other things, Grätz in the Duchy of Opava and Kunewald and Zauchtel in Kuhländchen . The last two places mentioned developed during their rule to a center of the German-speaking brother movement , which was supported by Johann Balthasar von Czettritz. He built the Trinity Church in Zauchtel from 1604 to 1614, which was one of the largest Protestant meetinghouses. In Eastern Bohemia , among others, Schatzlar was owned by the Czettritz.
